About brand
Sheets & Giggles started in October 2017, when founder Colin McIntosh launched the company three weeks after leaving his previous job at a Denver-based startup. The idea took shape after watching a scene in the movie War Dogs about a character selling bedsheets out of a pickup truck — that same night, a full business plan was written for a bedsheets company built differently from anything already on the market.
Bedding was chosen deliberately: a massive, highly fragmented commodities market with little brand loyalty or differentiation, dominated by physical retail and lacking any genuinely sustainable options. Eucalyptus lyocell became the material of choice, selected for a lower environmental footprint than cotton and a softer, more breathable feel. The result uses 96% less water than traditional cotton bedding while staying naturally softer and more breathable.
Early traction came through a June 2018 crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, which became the highest-funded bedding project on the platform at the time. Within twelve months of launch, the company had reached $1 million in sales, and by November 2020, hit its first million-dollar month.
